-- The third run of Rich Dreher's CompactFlash for Apple II card has been
sold out and he has begun taking orders for a 4th run. Dreher has
reported a possible fix for the previously-reported problem of using the
CFFA with larger CF cardsthe fix will require both a replacement of the
CLPD chip as well as a minor hardware rewire. Instructions for
do-it-yourselfers will soon be released, and Mr. Dreher is contemplating a
"factory reconditioning" option too. More information may be found at:

-- One major discussion over the years for Apple II users is the legality
of distributing copyrighted software without the author/copyright holder's
permission. Groups like The Lost Classics Project and The TreasyreChest
Project over the past several years have gone to great lengths to obtain
freeware status for as many programs as they could. Now, the U.S.
Copyright Office is looking into the status of "orphan software" and it's
status for free use. Interested persons can log on and even leave
commentary to the Government at:
http://www.copyright.gov/orphan/index.html

-- People interested in programming for the Apple II should that note
that Bob Sander-Cederlof, publisher of the Apple Assembly Line newsletter,
has posted the complete text of all the issues of his magazine (80 - 88)
online: http://bobsc5.home.comcast.net/aal/

-- Reservations for the 2005 KFest gathering July 19 through the 24th, at
Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri have begun with an
anticipated strong turnout. The downloadable registration form can be
found at http://www.kfest.org . For those poor souls who were unable to
attend Kfest last year, vol. 3 of Syndicomm's DVD collection is now
available for sale. Check out

shipping information.

--Software News:

-Long-time email users will remember the FIDO mailer used with many
freeware and BBS systems. The sourcecode for FruityDog, can now be
purchased in order to allow others to continue development of the program,
which is still being used on several BBS systems. More information can be
found at: http://homepage.cooketech.net/~yllar/fruity.dog.htm

-- Emulation News:

-During a recent magazine interview, Eric Rothfus. reported that he has
added an Apple II floppy drive support emulation to his hardware SVD
device. Current information about the SVD project can be found at:
http://www.rothfus.com/SVD/update.htm
